Anticipation comes in many forms.
Waiting for a big day: Christmas, birthdays, vacations.
Working for a degree, a promotion, or some payoff or completion of something.
Sometimes anticipation isn’t hopeful but dreadful.
A conversation that keeps postponing but know is coming.
A court date
A doctors diagnosis
Anticipation works our emotions & thoughts both ways:
Satisfaction & sorrow.
Optimism & worry.
What we need in life’s uncertainty is perspective. And the only perspective that helps us to press forward despite problems is one that’s elevated.
Advent reminds us that all time, all troubles, all things are under the feet of Jesus.

So, journey with us this advent season.
December days with reading one Bible verse and unwrapping one name of Jesus.
One name makes all the difference.
December Sundays gathering @SPBC.
We gather to sing familiar carols.
We gather to pray… and wait.
We will light candles to push back the darkness.
We will look into faces of church family and friends to remind we’re not alone.
We will listen to God’s word, which is powerful to transform our minds, revive our soul, and elevate our perspective of life.
Friends, we need advent bc we need the arrival of Jesus in our life and world. Instead of complaining “look what our world is coming to,” let’s celebrate “who has come into our world.”
Merry Christmas.
