Jesus makes us into “living stones.” #1Peter2:5
The bad news is that stones are not alive. Your heart is like a hardened rock. And when it’s broke, your life crumbles into pieces that seems impossible to put back together.
The good news is that Jesus can transform graves into gardens and bones into armies. God can soften and shape rocks with the cleansing water of His words.
When stones are set in order according to a properly established cornerstone, they become a magnificent structure. But, the stones need one another for proper display. Likewise, Christians need the church to display the transforming grace of God. When properly displayed, they provide others a sign that they have a place in God’s mosaic of building structures. They can fortify walls. They can provide refuge and a home. They can sustain the power of wind and storms because they are joined together as a spiritual house built on a solid foundation.
