*The average age of a pastor is 52. Yet, 30 yrs ago, 33% of U.S. pastors were less than 40 years old, with the median age as 44.
*1 in 4 pastors plan to retire by 2030. Yet, 80% U.S. pastors claim churches are not developing a pastoral pipeline.
*Churches can expect a 10% attrition rate each year, with 4K churches closing every year. Most congregations only recovered about 85% of its pre-pandemic attendance. Yet, only 3K churches are planted each year, thus not keeping up with attrition rate or any population growth.
*20% of churchgoing people attend nearly ever week, down from 32% twenty years ago. 41% only attend once or twice a month.
When we hear of these statistics or listen to the trends, we can get discouraged. But the throne is occupied and the tomb is empty. We can be certain that Jesus is building His church, and the gates of hell will not prevail.
So, we press onward. And we pray. Lord, send an Acts-style revival with sinners discovering grace, saints deploying generous hospitality, and churches displaying and declaring truth in love, in reverence of Almighty God. Mobilize every member and the whole body using the fullness of gifts. Come, Holy Spirit with fresh wind and fresh fire.
