“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope”
Psalm 130:5
Waiting.
Usually isn’t enjoyable.
Requires endurance.
Invites introspection, if we allow. How we wait is as important as for what we wait.
The Lord’s most significant work occurs in the dark uncertainty of waiting.
Creation out of dark nothing.
Abraham’s promise for offspring took 25 years.
Joseph’s prophecy waited over 20 years amid the pit to the prison and to the palace.
Israel’s decades of suffering.
Moses’ 40 years in the desert.
David’s seasons of fleeing Saul.
Exile for 70 years and then return to disaster in the homeland.
Waiting centuries for the Messiah.
Waiting today and tomorrow.
But God.
He’s always faithful.
Grass withers and flowers fade, but the word of God endures forever.
God turns silent Saturday into Sunday shouts of hope, life, and joy.
Jesus is risen.
The tomb is empty and the throne occupied.
He is risen indeed.
