Not Empty Handed

“And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.” Matthew‬ ‭2‬:‭11‬ ‭

The magi believed a baby was worthy of worship. They did not approach empty handed, but came prepared with sacrificial and significant gifts fit for royalty and divinity. Gold indicated esteem; frankincense indicated earnest worship; and myrrh indicated affection.
