If I can stand on a soap box for just a minute.
I’m seeing a lot of people discussing microchips. While it is most certainly your preference and business to choose or not choose having a microchip implant, please stop relating it to end times or Bible prophecy. The truth is microchips are not mentioned in the Bible. And every time technology is developed with the response of Christian fear, and proclamations about the Anti-Christ and end times prophecy, guess who looks foolish and not as people of faith?
Christians need to learn how to manage technology while not being manipulated or dismayed by it. So, while I’m not entirely dismissing the idea that microchips could be used for evil, I don’t believe we should make blatant proclamations for everyone to avoid microchips.
In all, I’d encourage friends to have a legitimate study of the Bible and not from The Left Behind nonsense, or every “popular” Bible teacher; though many can be very helpful and not always sensational.
I can feel the eye rolls and ready defense through some of your screens, so a quick few references to double check me…
https://www.gotquestions.org/mark-beast.html “The mark of the beast will be something given only to those who worship the Antichrist. Having a medical or financial microchip inserted into your right hand or forehead is not the mark of the beast. The mark of the beast will be an end-times identification required by the Antichrist in order to buy or sell, and it will be given only to those who worship the Antichrist. Many good expositors of Revelation differ widely as to the exact nature of the mark of the beast. Besides the implanted chip view, other speculations include an ID card, a microchip, a barcode that is tattooed into the skin, or simply a mark that identifies someone as being faithful to the Antichrist’s kingdom. This last view requires the least speculation, since it does not add any more information to what the Bible gives us. In other words, any of these things are possible, but at the same time they are all speculations. We should not spend a lot of time speculating on the precise details.”
- http://www.equip.org/bible_answers/is-the-mark-of-the-beast-a-microchip/ “[T]he notion that the mark of the Beast is Sunday worship, a social security card number, or a silicon microchip has no biblical basis whatsoever. Finally, the mark of the Beast is not something that can be taken inadvertently. It is the intentional denial in thought, word, and deed of the lordship of Jesus Christ. Thus, rather than fearfully avoiding microchip technology, we should with fear and trembling resist the temptation to be conformed to the evil systems of this world.
- Even popular pastor David Jeremiah (The Coming Economic Armageddon) references the idea of microchips as a potential mark of the beast summarily says, “RFID or VeriChip is neither good nor evil. It is just a collection of silicone and data bits and has no moral persuasion of its own. Like money, guns, or a thousand other amoral tools, these chips are wholly dependent on the ethics, purposes, and priorities of those who use them.”
In all, my aim is simply to encourage or facilitate your confidence in Christ and His salvation provided for you, that nothing can take us out of His hand – unless we are not in His hand! Of course, I’d be glad to walk you through Scripture to bring an assurance of salvation and/or pray together for God’s Spirit to lead us to His truth.
Stepping off the soap box 🙂
