“And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by NIGHT.” Luke 2:8
Something that has caught my attention this year is the divine encounter in the dark. God spoke into the night. In the routine of keeping watch and warning off predators, the unlikely and unclean shepherds were alarmed by angels. God’s gifts come wrapped in different, and sometimes dark surprises.

If this year has caused you fear or dread, know God’s best and brightest work is in the backdrop of night. Take hope, a Savior is born for YOU (Luke 2:11). God’s light and life are made personally available to the unlikely and the unclean by grace.
Friends, we are saved by grace not grit. The grind of 2020 is a reminder to release our control to the Lord, and rest in grace. He’s got this. His light is shining and the darkness cannot overcome it.
