Green Deserts

“He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.”

Reading Psalm‬ ‭23‬:‭2‬ ‭makes you think about open fields with flowers and lush lawns along a riverside. Yet, the context is far different. The author lived a a dry desert region. Life was difficult. Shepherding was rugged. And that’s the point.

You and I don’t always experience comfort or enjoy the luxury of cruise control. There’s lots of twists and turns, and winding valleys. But growth is found in the daily grind. God meets us in the middle, and Jesus loves the mess out of us.

Whatever circumstance you’re facing today, I want to remind you to keep walking. Take that next step. The Good Shepherd is pursuing you with goodness and mercy.
