A group from Severna Park Baptist Church & Glen Burnie Baptist Church are going to Nicaragua this summer, August 16-23. Below are some ways people are participating.
1) Going. Currently we have about 9 people on a team to share and serve in Jesus’ name.
2) Praying. We are asking everyone to pray. In fact, you may commit to pray specifically for these team members who are going. So far, the names are: Pastor Dave Brown, Pastor Zach Villafuerte, Lauren Burris, Wanda Murray, Donald Williams, Pastor Bob Rudman, Mary Rudman, John Ritter.
3) Giving. God may have blessed you financially to be generous towards the spread of the gospel. Everyone cannot give a lot but everyone can give something. Please pray about how God would lead you to give, whether it’s financially or other resources, as mentioned below.
Those who want to give you may write a check to either Severna Park Baptist Church (506 Benfield Rd. Severna Park, MD 21146) or Glen Burnie Baptist Church (7524 Old Stage Rd. Glen Burnie, MD 21061). Checks and/or envelopes should be marked “SENT Missions” or “Nicaragua Missions”. It can be for a specific team member you may know is in need, or may remain general and will be used for ministry purposes (craft activities, bibles, etc.).
We also have a few opportunities to help fund raise:
June 2 @GBBC is a Yardsale from 7am – Noon. If you have items to donate for sale you can contact church office. You may also have your own space and donate a portion or all proceeds to missions; again contact church office.
June 9@GBBC is a Spaghetti Dinner & Silent Auction, 5pm. This will be a great time to fellowship together between our churches and make a donation towards missions. There will also be time to bid on items for silent auction. If you have a special item or gift to share for the auction, that would be much appreciated. You can contact the church office.
July 8 Night of Music & Worship. This would be a special time to gather and enjoy special musical presentations with a love offering collected for missions. More information forthcoming.
Additional supplies we know we are trying to collect are: Small packages of crayons, face paint packs, bubbles, hard plastic food bowls at Dollar Tree (3 for $1). You can bring these items in to either church office for collection.
Sewing. Those who sew and are crafty may use this pattern to make a pillow case dress. Several ladies are getting together to work on these. They are looking for ways to get everyone together for collaboration & fellowship. Please let us know if there is a good day for you to gather for this purpose. Stapling & Packing. We will also organize days where we are organizing craft supplies and packing bags. This would be a great opportunity for families, children & teens, to work together to have a part in the missions trip even if they are not actually going.
4) Support. Above all we believe God is doing and will do a great work by yielding ourselves in His service. We ask that you encourage your church leadership and congregation. Allow this mission opportunity to be a unifying experience. When we first started this journey we noted that Glen Burnie Baptist had a vision, dream and heart to spread the gospel in its own area. Severna Park Baptist Church became the fulfillment of part of that dream way back in 1960. Today we are continuing that same focus and spreading the gospel through our own area but also around the globe – starting in Nicaragua. What joy! What hope! May God bless us for His glory!
