Character is Crucial
Psalm 78:72 “And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.”
If you do not maintain integrity of character, absolutely nothing else will matter. Talents, skill, ability, personality can only cover up deficient character for so long. Be sure that sin’s slippery slope has an end destination for each person (Numbers 32:23).
Words carry Weight
Matthew 12:34b, 36-37 “For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. But I tell you that men will have to give an account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Words build or destroy. People need both words of affirmation as well as words of constructive criticism.
People are Primary
Matthew 9:36 “When Jesus saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”
People are more important than programs or projects. We must not use people for their abilities, gifts or resources but genuinely care and love people.
What does genuine love look like in the relationships of our church?
